Star Trek Bachelor Pad

Ultimate Star Trek Bachelor Pad (13 pics)

After his wife left him, Tony Alleyne set out to create the ultimate bachelor pad, painstakingly turning his flat in Hinckley, Leicestershire into a Star Trek set.

Mr Alleyne hand-crafted all the furnishings himself, cutting timber and plexigas to create the futuristic look. He started the project in 1999 and completed it in 2004, but then decided to give the flat a Star Trek: Voyager make-over. "I have always considered that of all the Starfleet ships, Voyager is, in terms of interior, the luxury liner of the galaxy," he says.
The 500-square-foot apartment features voice-activated lighting, LED lighting, running lights, air-conditioning - but no bed. A few years ago Mr Alleyne suffered from sciatica and was advised by his GP to sleep on the floor. "It cured the sciatica and gave me the opportunity to convert the bed area into the Transporter area," he says. "Bed space is overrated"

Conficker Computer Worm a Bust so Far

The attackers didn't attack today, even though the virus has April 1st in the code. The worm creators are likely to sell slices of a 'botnet' to spammers so that the infected computers can be used to send spam.

I don't read virus alerts because I have a Mac and I had no idea that this worm was out there until a relative emailed me very upset about this. I am so glad that I don't have to worry about virus', worms, bots, ect. I have enough to worry about.

Conficker Computer Worm A Bust So Far

Little Impact Seen From Latest Computer Attack Timed For April 1

As expected, the Conficker worm failed to cause the digital pandemonium that some may have feared.
So, can we all just go back to playing on Facebook and watching the game now?
Not really. Just because the worm failed to create much of a stir on the day it was set to activate, April 1, doesn't mean it won't wake up and act later.
"The (malicious) hackers can tell their worm to do something any day of the year; they're just as likely to do it tomorrow or next Wednesday or in August," said Graham Cluley, a senior technology consultant with Sophos.
Today, as on any day, PC users should make sure their systems are patched and running the latest security software. People should patch their systems to close the hole in Windows it exploits and update their anti-virus software. The major anti-virus vendors all have free Conficker removal tools.

British try to ban 'extreme' porn

Extreme porn as defined by the British:
is grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character" and portrays in any way an act which threatens a person's life, or which results or appears likely to result in serious injury to someone's genitals or breasts.

Battle lines drawn over Bill to ban 'extreme' porn

To some people it is exactly the kind of protective legislation that Britain needs in a world where access to a vast array of pornography is available at the click of a mouse. To others, a new law banning "extreme" pornography gives the Government unprecedented powers to police bedrooms (and basements).

Opponents have no problems with two provisions banning images of bestiality or necrophilia – both of which are already illegal to do – but fear that the other definitions are so vaguely worded that even images of consenting adults engaging in fictional violence will now be outlawed, giving Britain the toughest anti-porn laws in Europe.

    Amazing X-Ray Images

    Amazing (and Disturbing) X-Ray Images

This x-ray shows the stomach of an Israeli woman who swallowed a fork while trying to catch a bee that flew into her mouth.

A schoolboy archer in China had an narrow escape after being shot with an arrow through the eye by a classmate.

This poor fellow didn't heed is parents' advice about not playing with firecrackers.

The x-ray of Ron Hunt's skull shows an 18-inch-long drill bit that pierced Hunt's eye socket and went through his head, just nudging his brain. Hunt, a construction worker, fell off a ladder and landed on the drill he was using at a construction site.

This X-ray shows a 3-inch nail in the head of a Houston carpenter. The nail missed half a dozen vital areas by an eighth of an inch.

When this 12-week-old terrier was reluctant to curl up, his owner knew something was wrong and took him to get checked out. An x-ray revealed a seven-inch kitchen knife in his stomach.

    Worst Christmas Ever

    clipped from www.cracked.com

    Worst. Christmas. Ever.

For most children, Christmas involves at least a little disappointment. You go to sleep thinking about it every night for weeks, the people on TV make it look like it's going to be awesome and in the end, all you have to show for it is a bunch of ugly clothes thrown everywhere.

Some Christmases are worse than others. We asked you to try to imagine the worst Christmas possible. As always, the winner is below, but first the runners up.
